Join us Saturday, March 23rd for a first listen to the new EP ‘S.I.M’ by Kartez Marcel, a Kansas City-based artist and member of NuBlckCity, an independent artist collective.
Kartez Marcel’s musicality lies at the intersection of hip-hop and a smooth soulful groove. Audiences are most often captivated by his approach to storytelling - an experience that includes unique flows, warm tones and harmonies melded perfectly over thoughtful beats.
As a rapper, singer, songwriter, musician, producer, and hip-hop entrepreneur, Kartez Marcel, is set to deliver his third EP entitled S.I.M (which dually stands for Shots I Made and Shots I Missed). A strong believer in balanced transparency, using a game of basketball as a metaphor to walk listeners through situations where he’s excelled and failed, and how he uses the lessons from both to push forward and grow.
This project is especially notable as it marks Kartez Marcel’s debut as a producer. In addition to his own skill, he’s tapped highly acclaimed producers Desmond Mason (placement on Star on Fox) and Dominique Sanders (Tech N9ne, Nipsey Hussle, Jidenna, Jay Prince).
A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Kartez Marcel is also the co-founder of We are R.A.P (real and positive) a hip-hop program for youth centered on providing a creative outlet and education on the wide opportunities throughout the industry. Kartez Marcel is also a member of an independent artist collective NuBlvckCity, a fusion of hip-hop, R&B, jazz, and soul. His work has been highlighted across platforms such as KCUR, The Pitch Magazine, Startland News, and KCTV5’s Better Kansas City.
S.I.M will be available across all digital platforms this March. To preview select tracks from the upcoming project be sure to catch Kartez Marcel during his upcoming tour, Always Bet On Black, which kicks off March 8th in Kansas City, with shows throughout the midwest and east coast through April.
